Who will be living here?

I am not sure of who will be living in the White House on January 1st but if you have an opinion you have to GET OUT AND VOTE. If you think your vote doesn't count...it does. If everyone thought that way no one would get elected.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2008, America will elect a new President of the United States. There is no better time to express your voice through voting than now. You have a voice...so speak up...and be heard!

In addition to the highly anticipated Presidential campaign, control of the U.S. Congress will be decided in November as well. All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 U.S. Senate seats will be contested in this election.
Consider this: Women have only had the right to vote for 83 years. That means that there are women alive today who knew a United States that did not allow half of the population to vote.
If you want to be more informed CNN has a great link, check it out and get informed... http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/issues/
Voting is Powerful
Voting is being responsible
Voting is a previlege
So remember and remind your friends, family, co-workers and strangers
to VOTE on November 4, 2008!

Go Royals!!!

Thanks to the wonderful world of technology I have been able to reconnect with old friends. As many of you know I played basketball for many years. I happened to run into Coach Powell on facebook and low and behold he had pictures from his coaching days. Powell retired from coaching two years after I graduated. This picture is from my junior year in high school. 8 of the 10 girls were from the Class of '99. Since the invention of blogging and social networks I have been able to reconnect with many of these ladies and even my former coach. I have many wonderful memories with this group: our many car trips to tournaments, trips to San Diego and Las Vegas, summer league, friendships...
Here is an update of what some of these girls have been up to since we graduated:
Alissa is currently serving in the Marines.
Emma is living in New York and just got engaged.
Noelani is still with her high school sweet heart and just had their first baby in June.
Tiffany is married with three little boys.
Missy is married with two children. She was coaching high school basketball up on the East side a few years ago and I had the pleasure of watching her coach against the KM team.
Katie is living in Idaho, married with three children.

Ice Museum

We took a mini trip to Fairbanks, AK to watch Malinda's cousin Shanley play volleyball. While on our trip to Fairbanks Malinda really wanted to go to the Ice Museum at Chena Hot Springs Resort. We drove the one hour drive north of Fairbanks to the Chena Hot Springs Resort. The Ice Museum is open year around with daily tours. When you first walk in you notice a chill in the air. The temperature stays at 20 degrees so you are told to dress warmly (they do have parkas for those who do not come prepared). You are able to stay a night at the Ice Museum if you can handle the cold. During the tour you are told to only walk or sit on the carpeted area or the caribou skinned covered areas. At the end of the tour you are able to go and sit at the ice bar and drink an apple martini in your ice glass.

At the ice bar...the green room is acutally the bathroom...Cam laying on the Polar Bear Bed

Blast from the Past

So I was sitting in a budget meeting this evening and someone mention youtube and that there was a video on the snow sculpting contest last March. So needless to say I came home and searched and sure enough there it was. Watch and see if you recognize anyone.

Little Diomede & CNN

CNN was in town on Monday. They were coming thru town to head out to Little Diomede. A small island that is less than 5 miles from Russia.

It is a glimpse into the life of what life is like in Rural Alaska. It is totally believeable that people don't know our governor's name or anything about the presidential election. For me the best part of the video is when they are throwing the garbage into the ocean. I am sure that they will be enviornmentalist making comments. If you want to see the video I have attached the link.

As for my experience with Little Diomede...I can say that I have been there once. The ocean that is between the USA and Russia was frozen and in the winter time they make a frozen runway out there. We have a Head Start site out there and I am sure that I will be making a trip in April.
